📜Biography
Mr. Dunston Priyasad currently holds the position of Lecturer on Assignment Basis at the Rajarata University of Sri Lanka (RUSL). He graduated from RUSL with a Bachelor of Engineering Technology (Honours) in Electrical and Electronic Technology, completing his studies between 2017 and 2022.
He began his academic career at RUSL as a Temporary Demonstrator from February 2022 to February 2023, during which he conducted laboratory practical sessions and participated in the evaluation of final-year research proposals. He subsequently served as a Temporary Assistant Lecturer from February 2023 to August 2025, taking on responsibilities such as curriculum development and lecturing on electronic design, simulation, and automation. In August 2025, he transitioned to his current role, where he focuses on planning laboratory procedures for the Automation and Robotics Laboratory, as well as conducting lectures on robotics, instrumentation, and automation. Prior to his academic roles, he gained valuable industry experience as a Trainee Electrical Engineer at Gal-Oya Plantations (Pvt) Ltd. and the Ceylon Electricity Board.
Mr. Priyasad is actively engaged in technological research, project supervision, and hardware development. He has supervised several innovative undergraduate projects, including a self-navigating gantry robot for warehouse operations, an IoT-based underground power cable fault monitoring system, and a robotic solution for material handling in confined spaces. He has also contributed to an abstract publication on autonomous environmental monitoring with energy harvesting and the Internet of Things. In addition to his academic and research commitments, he is a former member of the university’s media unit, InFocus Media, and served as the Treasurer of the Faculty of Technology Alumni Association in 2024
