Continuing its strong collaboration with the industry, the Department of ICT organized another successful Industry Visit and Soft Skills Development Programme in partnership with the Sri Lanka Association of Software and Services Companies (SLASSCOM) on 28th October 2025.
The event, coordinated by Mr. Wiraj Wickramaarachchi, Senior Lecturer of the Department of ICT, provided a valuable opportunity for ICT undergraduates to gain direct exposure to leading technology companies in Sri Lanka — Virtusa (Pvt) Ltd and Cloud Solution (Pvt) Ltd.
A group of enthusiastic students from the 3rd-year ICT batches took part in the programme, which was designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and practical industry applications while enhancing students’ employability and professional readiness.
The visit consisted of two key components:
- Morning Session – Industry Insights and Soft Skills Development
The morning session included interactive sessions conducted by SLASSCOM trainers, focusing on professional growth, communication, teamwork, and adaptability — all vital for success in the corporate IT environment.
- Afternoon Session – Company Visits to Virtusa and Cloud Solution
In the afternoon, one group of students visited Virtusa, one of Sri Lanka’s largest global IT service providers, where they gained firsthand knowledge about enterprise-level software solutions, project management practices, and corporate culture.
The other group then visited Cloud Solution, a fast-growing technology company specializing in cloud computing services and enterprise solutions. The session provided insight into how modern businesses leverage cloud technologies to drive innovation and scalability.
Students expressed their appreciation for the experience, emphasizing how such visits helped them understand real-world applications of the concepts they study in class.
