ICT Students Participate in Soft Skills Training and Industry Visit at Zone24x7, Colombo

A group of 55 undergraduate students from the Department of ICT participated in an insightful Soft Skills Training Session and Industry Visit organized by the Sri Lanka Association of Software and Services Companies (SLASSCOM) in collaboration with Zone24x7 (Pvt) Ltd, Colombo, on 24th October 2025.

The event was coordinated by Mr. Wiraj Wickramaarachchi, Senior Lecturer of the Department of ICT, with the objective of bridging the entry-level skill gap between university education and the IT industry’s expectations.

This full-day programme was designed to enhance employability skills, foster industry awareness, and promote university–industry collaboration. It comprised two main sessions:

  • Morning Session – Soft Skills and Industry Landscape Training

Held at the IBSL Auditorium, the session focused on improving essential professional skills such as communication, teamwork, leadership, and adaptability. An invited resource person conducted interactive activities and discussions to help students align their academic learning with real-world professional practices.

  • Afternoon Session – Industry Engagement and Company Visit

In the afternoon, students visited Zone24x7, a leading innovation and technology company. During the visit, students gained valuable exposure to modern software development environments, industry workflows, and career opportunities within Sri Lanka’s growing ICT sector.

The students expressed their enthusiasm and gratitude for the opportunity, highlighting how the event motivated them to improve their professional skills and better prepare for industry demands.
