Keynote Speaker

Professor Hak-Jin Kim

Department of Biosystems Engineering (BSE), College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Seoul National University (SNU), South Korea.

Hak-Jin Kim is a Professor in the Department of Biosystems Engineering (BSE), College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Seoul National University (SNU), and currently serves as the Director of the Brain Korea 21 Global Smart Farm Educational Research Center. He received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in agricultural engineering from SNU in Korea in 1993 and 1995, respectively, and his Ph.D. degree in precision agriculture from the University of Missouri at Columbia in U.S.A. in 2006.

His research interests are in the development of sensors and control systems for smart farming. Major research he is currently working on includes the development of path generation and tracking controllers for autonomous tractors employed with GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) and sensor fusion, the implementation of an automated hydroponic nutrient management system for greenhouses and plant factories, and the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) and cameras for on-site monitoring of crop growth status. He has been the Associate Editor of the ASABE ITSC Community since August 1, 2022.

His keynote aims to explain the concepts and principles of smart farming technologies in Korea and to enhance understanding by introducing research case studies conducted in our laboratory.
